Blog Day 1: Two Column Layout in Minima

The basics first:

  1. Chose the blog name.
  2. Established a supporting email name.
  3. Picked a suitable twitter name.
  4. Led by the hand, accepted the standard two column Minima template.
  5. Arranged a standard set of page elements including Google Adsense & Contact Details.
  6. Posted by first blog entry to get some working content up there.
  7. Removed the name of the author on the blog posts.
  8. Added a 'HTML/Javascript' page element and lifted the contact details plugin (top right) as well as the 'follow me on twitter' html from my other blog into the page element.
  9. You must have seen that at the botton of your blogger template there is a Subscribe to: Posts (Atom) link. Blogger has added it so that the blog visitors can subscribe to your Atom feeds. However many people use RSS for their blog feeds . Moreover it occupies space at the bottom of the template and it doesn't look nice. As such, removed it.
  10. Added a LABELS element to keep track on the POSTs made.
  11. Added the blog URL to Google.
  12. Drank a beer.

ABBA Reunion - Latest Betting Odds

28 years after they split up, an Abba reunion could be on the cards.

In an interview last week Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus hinted that the Swedish group could get back together again.

Ever since they split the band have categorically denied that they’ll ever get back together – much to their fan’s disappointment.

Just last year they were voted as the band the British public would most like to see reform but despite the huge success of ABBA Gold and the musical Mamma Mia in 2000 they turned down $1 billion (£600 million) to do a reunion tour.

However, in an interview with the Times Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, the male half of the Swedish group hinted that there could be a chance of a reunion performance.

When asked if they would do an intimate, maybe with an orchestra one of performance that potentially get beamed around the world, Andersson said: “Yeah, why not?” adding that “I don’t know if the girls sing anything any more. I know Frida [Anni-Frid Lyngstad] was in the studio.”

Later on in the interview he even conceded: “It’s not a bad idea, actually.”

Björn even threw in a reference to the last song on Supertrouper “We could sing The Way Old Folks Do,” he said.

While the comments only offer the smallest glimmer of hope for fans it is in stark contrast to earlier statements made by the band.

Just two years ago Björn said: “We will never appear on stage again. There is simply no motivation to regroup. Money is not a factor and we would like people to remember us as we were — young, exuberant, full of energy and ambition.

“I remember Robert Plant saying Led Zeppelin were a cover band now because they cover all their own stuff. I think that hit the nail on the head.”

Paddy Power are currently taking bets on when the band will reform. They have priced 2010 at 6/1, 2011 at 9/2, 2012 at 5/2, 2013 at 3/1, 2014 at 6/1 and 2015 or later at 3/1.

All odds correct at time of writing and are subject to change.
